Reception- Ebony class

Ms Michelle Senior will be teaching Ebony Class this year. She will be ably supported by our experience TA Ms Rose McDonald.
During the past three years, we have transformed the ethos and outcomes of our Early Years through developing the indoor and outdoor environment and by introducing experienced, specialist staff. This has led to children making excellent progress and achieving well across the setting.

Educational visit from parents
Reception were lucky to have a visit from Sianna's Mum who is a Lawyer and Sianna's Aunty who is General Practitioner (GP)
The children learnt about the job of a Lawyer and how they help people understand the rules of the country. The explored special court items like a wig and a judge hammer. They also got to meet a GP who spoke to them about how doctor's help to make people better. Reception class impressed the doctor with knowing the name of specialist equipment such as ' Stethoscope and "Syringe". Watch out St Marks I think we may have a few budding Doctors and Lawyers in the making!
People who help us topic
Reception had a special visit from Jesse's dad PC Thomas who came to talk about his job as a Police officer. Reception found out many things that police officers help with. and looked at some special equipment including baton and hand cuffs. Ms Senior was released after questioning!
RE Week
Reception Class have been enjoying their learning about Easter. They have made palm hands to celebrate Jesus arriving in Jerusalem. Talked about the importance of the last Super. The also contributed to a class Easter Garden remembering how it helps Christians remember the Easter story. Reception spent their last cooking session this term making Easter nests.
Science week
Reception had a fun morning taking part in a science experiment. They tested different felt tip pens and explored what happened when they added water using pipettes. They then got to make some beautiful fish designs using their felt tip pens.
Garden Museum trip
Reception had a wonderful time at the Garden Museum. They learned some history about the Museum and explored the gardens looking at different plants. They then got to use specialist microscopes to look closely at leaves and also played a matching game where they had to correctly match different types of beans to photos. To finish the session they explored the museum making drawing of things which interested them. They were then able to use these drawings to design their own pencil cases.
We Are Going on a Bear Hunt
Ebony Class went on a bear hunt to see if they could find the bear from our key text We're going on a bear hunt. They got their investigation tools and self made hats ready for their hunt.
