Fruit Portraits
This week in Year 1 we created fruit portraits inspired by Giuseppe Arcimboldo. We used different fruits to mimic facial features. We thought about shape, colour and orientation. We had so much fun! Especially when we got to eat them afterwards!
Vauxhall City Farm Trip
Rockets
This week we have been using all our knowledge of rockets and their structures to create our own rockets using junk! We made sure our rockets had all the essential parts, a nose cone, body and fins. We are very happy with our rockets! Who knows, maybe we are astronauts in the making.
BeeBots
In computing we are learning all about algorithms and how they help a computer run. Algorithms tell computers what they need to do when they want to get from one point to another. To create algorithms of our own we used the BeeBots. These little creatures move when we have given them instructions. We were directing our BeeBots to different shops by using forwards, right and left direction buttons. We learnt so much about how important algorithms are, not just for computers but for everything!
Toys
In History we are learning about toys. To learn about our toys compared to toys from the past we set up a Toy Museum in our classroom! We brought in our favourite toys from home and explored some toys from the past. We explored toys from the present, the Victorian era and toys from the `1990’s. We also enjoyed talking about why our toys were special to us.
